A scenic collage on „Time“

by JENNY GAND

4 Characters, each of them represents an aspect of “TIME”. The Manager, always living under time pressure, tries to comply with the common social image of his occupational group. Releasing his aggression by boxing, during the day, at night, he must figure out how to return rented DVDs: Fat women, 50ish.
A couple: The Man fighting against loosing his memory, repeating his shopping list over and over, while the Woman attempts to forget an traumatic incident from her past. Thirdly, a Female Student, insecure, not knowing where to belong, emulating a passed
time.

Description of the subject (part of the application in 2002):
The Intention is to spin a net around the term „time“ (german „Zeit“). Therefore, words and phrases like „Zeitzeuge“, „Zeitgeschehen“ or „Zeitgenosse“, as well, as the wish to explain the phenomenon of time, are part of the concept.
Besides dealing with a philosophical aspect, also the habitual, repetitive, language usage, is in focus. Sentences like „You have to keep up with the times!“ or „someone is ahead of their time“ reflect social conventions and the image of particular stereotypes of people. The last aspect is, the feeling people have towards time: sometimes time flies, everything seems to happen so fast and then sometimes time doe not pass at all. There is also the big dream, of attempting to time, or have the ability to go back and forth within time.
